Terms of use

1. Who these terms are between

The simulator is owned and operated by Khalid Seflan, trading as the API 780 SRA Simulator ("we", "us"). They apply to the organization or individual holding the account ("you"), and to every person you allow to use it.

2. What your licence allows

An instructor licence gives you a non exclusive, non transferable right, for as long as your subscription is paid and current, to:

• use the simulator to deliver training courses,
• teach from the library case studies supplied with the product,
• create your own case studies within the simulator,
• enrol trainees in your classes at no extra charge, and
• issue certificates in your own name and branding to those trainees.

Each instructor seat is for one named person. Seats may be reassigned when someone leaves, but they may not be shared between people working at the same time. Sign in activity is recorded for this reason, and signing in ends any other session already open on the same account.

3. What belongs to whom

Ours. The software, the library case studies and every part of them, the reference answers, the grading logic, the exam question banks, the report and certificate designs, and the documentation remain our property. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of any of it. Your licence is permission to use, not a sale.

The simulator is registered as a computer program with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, registration number 26-12-102255469. That registration records authorship and date. It is not an approval, an endorsement or an accreditation of the simulator, of any course taught with it, or of any certificate issued through it.

Yours. Case studies you author yourself remain yours, along with your branding and your trainee records. We do not use your authored material for any purpose other than running the service for you, and we do not show it to other customers.

Neither of ours. API RP 780 is published by the American Petroleum Institute and is their copyright. The simulator is a training aid built around the methodology. It does not reproduce the standard, and it is not a substitute for holding a licensed copy.

4. What you may not do

• Copy, export, transcribe, photograph or otherwise reproduce the library case studies, their reference answers or their exam questions, other than in the ordinary course of teaching from them.
• Use any part of the product to build, train or assist a competing training product or service.
• Share account credentials, or allow more people to use a seat than the number of seats you hold.
• Scrape, crawl or bulk download any part of the service by automated means.
• Reverse engineer or decompile the software, except where the law gives you a right that cannot be excluded by agreement.
• Remove, obscure or alter any notice of ownership, any certificate verification code, or any licensing line on a generated document.

5. Certificates and what they mean

Certificates are issued by you, under your name and your branding. We do not issue them and we do not endorse them.

API 780 is a Recommended Practice, which is to say a standard document rather than a certification scheme. It does not sit within the American Petroleum Institute's Individual Certification Programs, and the Institute does not accredit third party courses on it. No accreditation of any kind is claimed for the simulator, for your course, or for any certificate produced through it. You must not represent otherwise to your trainees or to your clients.

The public verification page for a certificate is part of the service. It works for as long as the service runs and your subscription is current. If your subscription ends, tell your clients so, because verification links already issued may stop resolving.

6. Fictional data

Every facility, asset, threat and scenario in the library is fictional and is written for teaching. No part of it describes a real site, a real vulnerability or a real security arrangement. Assessments produced in the simulator are training exercises. They are not security advice and must not be relied on to protect an actual facility.

7. Trainee accounts and data

Trainees join your classes free of charge with a class code. You are responsible for telling them what the simulator is for and for having any permission your own organization requires before enrolling them. We hold their work so you can grade it. Deleting a class deletes its trainees and their work, and that cannot be undone.

8. Availability, changes and ending the licence

We aim to keep the service available continuously but do not guarantee it. We may improve, change or withdraw features, and we will give reasonable notice of anything that materially reduces what you have paid for. The library grows and is revised as the standard changes.

Either side may end the licence at the close of a paid period. We may suspend an account immediately if these terms are breached in a way that puts the licensed content at risk. When a licence ends, access ends: you may ask us for a copy of the case studies you authored and your trainee records, and we will supply them in a usable form.

Sections 3, 4 and 5 continue to apply after the licence ends.

9. Liability

The simulator is a training aid. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from decisions taken about a real facility, from the content of any certificate you issue, or from any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the courts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have jurisdiction, unless we agree otherwise with you in writing.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms materially, the revision number changes and you are asked to accept the new revision before continuing. Your previous acceptance stays on record.
